It's started... Germany '06!

Yep, once every 4 years a spectacular event takes place and millions and millions of people from around the world, tune in, fly, and take holidays to witness the greatest, and the best take part in the best sport in the world. That sport is of course football... and the event? The World Cup. England (my team of course) have got of to a good start with a win in their first game. Its early days yet, but some of the games have been awesome to watch and the likes of Brazil, France and Spain haven't even played yet! It's only going to get better you know it is! :)

I went to Brussels at the beginning of the month for my cousins stag do. This is a picture of me in Brussels sat on some random statues leg!

Brussels in a well nice city to visit. Although not a lot to do if you don't enjoy going out in the evening, there are some amazing cathedrals and old buildings which kind of almost take your breath away.

On Saturday, we had a BBQ at a friends house for Englands opening World Cup game. That was probably one of the best Saturdays I have ever spent doing nothing. We ate so much, England won, and then we chilled and watched the other games in the back garden in the summer sun/evening. Left at 1.30am, feeling.... satisfied :) He went to a lot of effort and thankfully everything went to plan. Few people got a bit drunk later on in the night, and one of our American friends decided she was going to go sleep in the shadows in the back garden without telling anyone. After a small search party, I noticed her in the shadows and we got her inside.... it wouldn't be the same if something like that didn't happen though!

That's all for now folks.

A quick recap and what's to come.

Okay, so I know its been absolutely ages since I updated this blog with a proper post, and I apologise. I'm sure it wasn't missed that much anyway :) Okay, so basically since May, I've moved in to my house, most of April was spent shopping, buying a million and one things, from TV to bathroom mats. I swear, if you are ever moving house then the first thing you need to is a HUGE list of all the things you're gonna need to buy, and budget for them, cos seriously, it all gets a bit too much to remember after a while and unless you know you're not going to run out of money for sure.... you have to be prepared!

Okay, so the house is coming along nicely. I'm really only waiting on my sofa to arrive to now. I've not decorated the bedrooms as I didn't feel like they needed to be done, my bedroom is sweet, its just what I need. I wont be spending too much time in my bedroom, I have to remember, this is my house, I can chill downstairs! I still don't have a bed, but all that arrives tommorow and so, there goes my bank holiday weekend! I know I said this a million times, but hopefully tonight or over the weekend, now I have my internet connection sorted at home, I will be uploading some pictures of the house. So watch this space!

Okay, so what else, work is work. Nothing too exciting going on in that department. I did get a payrise in April which was a nice surprise. It certainly helps when you've just bought a house anyway!

One thing I did want to mention, and I will probably write another post on this in the near future, and it will be a big one. Is the current state of the earths climate, and how its changing and how this affects every single one of us. I watched a programme, and I watch alot of these on the BBC and their mainly presented by Sir David Attenborough. He's made alot of amazing programmes, and the one which was on about climate change was.... well, hard hitting and very factual (as are most of his programmes). But you lot might want to read this. Like I said, I will be writing alot more about this in the near future, as its something that interests me and scares me at the same time. We might not feel the affects of these changes in Britain, but trust me, across the world, from lone islands off the coast of New Zealand, to deserts swallowing rural villages, climate change is happening, and realistically, and not in some science movie kind of way, this will be the end of the human species. Not wanting to be a complete downer, but some of the facts are scary, and like I said, I will be collating all this in a biggish blog entry coming soon.

Okay, so for now, that is all, I've also managed to quickly update my music list and movies, and added a couple new links for you're viewing pleasure! Enjoy :)

Just a quick plug for two friends of mine who are taking part in this years Race For Life charity event. They have both asked me to put up a link so you can all dig deep and try and give something for Cancer Research UK.

Okay, so I might as well add, that everything is ok with me. There WILL be another update coming soon. Things are just very busy with me at the moment. But all is good, trust me :)

So sponsor my friends and help her raise loads and loads of money for a good cause.

Just a quickie...

Some cool websites that I thought I should post up before I forget about them. The links are on the sidebar as well, but these are so good that they deserve a post all to themselves.

  • http://www.stumbleupon.com/ - a cool little app that lets you literally stumble upon any websites that are of interest to you.
  • http://www.gizoogle.com/ - Google but for gansta talk. Put in this website in the search and you'll see what I mean, or if you're lazy you can just click here.
  • http://www.gtraffic.info/ - the best live traffic info for the UK. Uses BBC and google maps. AND... you have to check out the live web cam feeds from central london.
  • http://latestgoals.net/ - If you like football, and like me, always miss MOTD on Saturday nights, then this website is heaven sent. All the goals, from all major competitions, downloaded straight to your machine.
Enjoy!

p.s I move in to my house in 4 days!!! :)

Long overdue chit chat

Well it's been ages since I wrote anything. That is partly because I've been so busy with life in general, and partly because I didn't have anything that interesting to write about. But, I might as well have a little nitter natter about what's been going on and stuff. Work is keeping me busy, and I'm currently finishing off a project that I've been working on, on my own! It's not a huge amount of work, but it gives me responsibility and the chance to prove that I can do it. So far so good.

That's all I'm going to say about work anyway. I've also moved out of my room... and in another rented room in the same house. It's a long story but my house move should be completed at the end of the month. I know I was hoping for end of Feb but that was a bit unrealistic. It could have been close though, but due to some small complications it was delayed slightly, so now looks the first weekend in April :) Yes that's April fools day! It's going to be a hectic couple of weeks as soon as I move in. I have got alot to take care of.

I don't want to give too much away about what's going on with me at the moment, mainly because not alot of people in the "real world" know, so I'm not going to let everyone read it on the net. Lets just say that things are sweet :) At the moment I'm just proper looking forward to moving in to my house. I've made a HUGE list of all the things that I need when moving house. I'm going to upload it soon as I've completed it. It might help some poor sod out that doesn't know where to start... cos trust me I got the basis of the list from another friend and it helped put things in order.

I was in London a couple Saturdays ago and I gotta admit it was good catching up with some really old friends from Manchester/Notts and London. Met some other interesting people and I hope somehow we keep in touch. That reminds me, I have to email someone about a painting!

Okay, so thats the personal crap out the way. Not that it's very interesting, but I suppose that is what this blog is mainly here for. I'm not a journalist, or a movie critic, or anything other than a 26yr old programmer writing a blog about myself. But I do have an opinion on a lot of stuff. At the moment, I can't get over the amount of money, governments spend on wars, and basically other crap. Okay, wars are always going to cost money, but to spend £20m on an opening ceremony!! Now granted, £20m for a government is peanuts, but lets put it in to perspective. The majority of populated Africa is under some serious problems. Drought and food shortages mainly. Now, I don't think the people involved in the Commonwealth games would have minded if they didn't have a billion fireworks going off, or whatever they did that cost £20m. Instead, what they would have spent on the opening ceremony, could have just been sent to a place which needed it. I'm not saying just throw money at Africa, thats another issue in itself. I think the problem is that its in serious debt, and there is some serious corruption and that all needs to be sorted. But, one thing at a time yeah? :)

I'm also not singling Australia out, they don't usually do much wrong. It's just the first example that popped in to my head. The UK alone spend a nice tidy sum on the Iraq war. If you don't want to give the money away, fair enough, but atleast sort out the problems we have here first. And lets get down to the nitty gritty, these funds don't just come from thin air, they have to be accounted for obviously. And where does the government get its money from? (well in Labours case sometimes from very wealthy businessmen. But the majority of it comes from the taxpayer. Me and you. With The Budget having been announced yesterday, once again, the working class, your average joe bloggs doesn't get what he really deserves. A break. Okay, he's not being raped either, but he's not getting massive gains, which he/she should be.

But thats my concern at the moment, far too much money is being wasted, and far too much money is not being correctly filtered in today's goverments. Corruption, greed, and dumb texans unfortunately rule the world today.

Another thing for Muslims to moan about!!

Everyone knows about the Danish papers printing cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, if you haven't then you can read up on it here. Now call me what you like, but these people are just making stuff worse for themselves. I mean, it's not like Muslims are the most liked religion in the world, even though it's not a popularity contest... but still, how petty can you be? You know what your beliefs are, why would you let someone else get the better of you and prove exactly what the cartoons are showing? Just doesn't make any sense.... the fundamentalists die and kill innocent people in the name of Allah, and then wish death upon all of the western world, and THEN when a newspaper draws a cartoon about it (they are not innocent either), the majority of the muslim world is in uproar because they feel like they are being disrespected! What the...??? Okay, okay, here's an idea...

Stop killing people, and trying to control what other people in non-islam countries watch and do and say and practice Islam the best way you can in your own homes and respect the fact that you DO NOT live in a country where your views may not be the most important thing since sliced bread.

Okay, this was meant to be short post, because I found this hilarious...

This is a blow-up doll called "Mustafa Shag"! Good in it? Anyways, the latest thing Muslims find offensive are these...The Sun article here. So you tell me... where does it stop? Islam Vs The World? WWIII? I dread to even think what these people are about to start.... it's getting beyond a joke.
